Check availabilityCasa Tartaruga sits on the edge of Calhau, a small fishing village on the east coast of São Vicente. In front of the house is a beach you will usually have to yourself. Behind it, volcanic mountains. On top, a spacious roof terrace where the day starts with coffee and ends with the sunset. Mindelo, Cape Verde's music capital, is fifteen minutes away by car.
We rent out the first floor of our house not by the night, but for stays of at least two weeks. People who come here come to stay: to work from the terrace, to spend the winter in the sun, or simply to slow down to the rhythm of the sea.

A bright living room with an open kitchen, a separate bedroom with an extra-large bed and a private bathroom with shower. Everything you need for a few weeks, nothing you don't.
Quiet, with the city within reach
Calhau is silent. Mindelo isn't. Shops, markets, cafés and live music are 15 to 20 minutes by car; the international airport is 35 minutes away.
Our story
I grew up in Mindelo and my mother still lives there. The connection to the island never went away. Together with my husband I built our own beach house in Calhau — a place we come to unwind ourselves. When we're not there, it's yours. We hope you'll love it as much as we do. — Dulce
